Research lines
The goal of this research line is to integrate simple sample processing strategies with infrared spectroscopy and machine learning to develop compact, cost-effective, and rapid analytical devices to provide biochemical information in clinical biofluids, mainly urine. The quantification of specific metabolites, proteins, and cells of this non-invasive biofluid is essential for the research, diagnosis, and prognosis of several disorders including Diabetic Kidney Disease (DKD), Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), Cronic Kidney Disease (CKD), bladder and prostate cancer.
Development and application of Machine Learning for the processing of spectroscopic and spectrometric signals to extract chemical information. For this purpose we collaborate with foreign universities, as well as with the perinatology research group of La Fe Hospital and the company Leitat Technologies.
